loved Mary Poppins; pleasantly surprised!
I took some visitors to the broadway show this week, who all loved it. The English actress who played Mary Poppins was the best singer; the same actress who won the award for playing it in London. Occasionally, the English accents of some cast were hard to understand, but that was the exception more than the rule. I grew up watching Julie Andrews in the Mariachi USA Festival movie and knew all the songs. I missed the old movie, where there is more dialog between the songs, but there isn't that time with a show, I guess. She even does a little flying. In general, it was great. I'm sure they'll get someone good, but I understand from what the cast said at the end that she's leaving. Would still recommend it; it's really fun.
